my iphones speakers aren't working

Try inseting a headphones into it, then removing.

If that still fails, reboot the iPhone (nothing attached).

give that a try and see.

The iPhone only has one speaker (on the right on an iP4), the other is the mic.

Yeah, I read it the same way at first but then noticed "My left speaker isn't working", thus my reply.

I have had my iPhone 4s for 16 months; 2 weeks ago my speaker also stopped working. I tried to do a soft reset and I did a hard reset, neither of these worked but this is what I would recommend you try. If you go to settings>reset settings>reset you will not lose all data. If you go to settings> reset phone to factors settings this is the hard reset, just make sure you have your phone backed up to icloud or your computer. I signed a 2 year contract and you would expect the phone to last at least 2 years. It is annoying because I can't use siri, I can't play music from my phone, I can't get read directions from the GPS and I can't talk to people on speaker phone. When I contacted Apple, they told me I could pay $199 for a new iPhone 4s or I could do an upgrade with my carrier. That's it. This iPhone 4s was my first Apple device and I will not be getting another Apple device in the future but I hope you this helps you.

Yeah I know I am just frustrated with my phone situation.

I had a similar problem. My speakers just stopped working recently. I was pretty bummed about it. Thought it might be due to the ios7 update.

The symptops started when I had a crackling sound, I was using apple maps with voice directions at the time, then the audio stopped working. No sound from the bottom speakers left or right.. No phone ring when called, no audio for music or video playback. Nothin.

I messed with all sorts of settings, no effect. Then on a whim, I tried blowing into the connector dock. Cleared up my audio issues, now it works just like new. Guess it turns out my parents were wrong. Growing up with a nintendo finally paid off! Thank you Super Mario Bros, saved me 200 bucks.
