Thought so. Wanted to prove it to my 86 year old Mom. I'm updating her to the iPad 2.
No there's no camera for ipad 1.But if you want it, you can get apple's iPad camera connection kit.Follow this link for more info about this product-
The Camera Connection Kit, while useful, in no way substitutes for a camera. All it does is allow you to transfer pictures from a camera or SD card to the iPad.
Yes but there should be some arrangement for ipad camera.

i'm confused really..i have an ipad 1 and i can see a tiny dot - camera like on the top frame location.. what the **** is that thing? surveillance camera? 😁

There is a camera in the original iPAD but it takes photos from inside so you can transfer images from aps to the albums. Some of the less sophisticated art apps have you hold down the start key and the bottom simultaneously. It will flash and maybe save what you drew or painted. Never a sure bet. I wondered about that camera myself but seriously how awkward will it be taking a picture with this thing? Get an iPhone. You 'll love it. Jury is out on MacBook Pro.
Do you have issues with sound on iPAd I cannot hear anything on it or my Mac.
