I restore my phone a third time 5 days ago... and it seems to be working fine up to now. The battery si still droping dramaticaly (50% during the night without using it... with all the push off) but at least I can use my phone! I remove most of my apps and put them on my IPhone again after the last restore (i did not do that the two first times).

I've been following this discussion in the hope somebody will eventually announce a fix. At the top of the thread, I notice there's a "Branched to a new discussion" link, that points to https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3094719. When I try to go to this branched discussion, I'm getting an "Unauthorized" page. It asks me to contact "my administrator" if I think that's a mistake, but no indication of *how* one contacts an administrator.

Anybody know what's up with that?

Brad.

Maybe it's apples way of trying to hide another problem with IOS updates.

I went to the apple store yesterday to sort the problem out with calls on my iPhone.

He tried pulling one over me saying they've never heard of this problem before.

I told him that my cousin was in a couple of days ago with the same problem and a couple of friends have also been into the apple store.

I even told him that it's on your forums, to which he said don't believe what you read on the forums.

He said that the quality of calls is nothing to do with software and that it could be the speaker playing up.

I had to stop him from trying to deny that there is a problem.

I explained that I am a electronics engineer and I am fully aware of how electronic hardware with embedded software works so don't try and fool me.

He then immediately thru embarrassment said that he'll exchange my phone for a new one, which he did quickly as possible.

I have been having all the same problems as the rest of y'all...no signal, always in search mode, 1 bar then 5 bars and still can't make a call, VM rec'd but the phone shows no recents, poor battery, etc. ...so on Fri 7/29 I go the Apple store and the "Genius" tells me "we haven't heard of this problem, but it looks like your may have a corrupt cell somewhere....asks me if I've backed up lately, (**** don't remember)...anyway he sez I'll give you a new iPhone4 since your's is still under warranty...tells me I'll lose my game scores...but I lost everything!!--favorites, ringtones, notes (from my vacation in Greece), pictures, apps...etc. It has taken me over 8 hours to try to recreate what I had, and guess what, ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE IN SERVICE! I just want to cry...again...

oh, and I remember saying to the little dude, all the stuff I have will be on this new phone and he said yes, once you sync...I said well what about that bad cell, won't it sync too?--he sez nah, I think you will be ok--hindsight sez, theN why the **** did we do this? AND IT DIDN'T FIX ANY PROBLEMS JUST CREATED MORE! I'm going to pop in there after work today and kick some "Genius" butt! ...and I will definately ask more questions next time then to assume they know what they are doing!

I am having the same problems with dropped calls and losing signal bars. I updated my phone last week to IOS 4.3.5 and that when I have been experiencing problems. I took my phone to the Apple store and they did a diagnostic test and he could not find anything wrong with it. He sent me to AT&T to get aa new SIM card and it did not help. My phone is out of warranty and I was told that the other resort was to purchase a new phone for $199. I do not feel that it is my fault because of the faulty software that Apple has released. I have restored my phone three times and it has not fixed the problem. How do you restore your IOS to a previous version?

Hi - None of the iOS updates has helped me. I've exchanged a new iPhone 4 for a reconditioned ones 3x, then received a brand new phone from Apple folks. Still the same problem.

Have put in several trouble calls with AT&T - and when I pressed tech support staff they've said "it's just the general quality of the network". My dropped calls happen in a variety of places and on many occasions.

Would have moved from AT&T to Verizon a while ago, but I need international and multi-tasking -- and I've seen complaints about dropped calls with iPhone 4 on Verizon as well. Will move from network and, possibly iPhone, if Sept release does not improve things.

I also hav same loss of signal problem when upgrading. I am on 4.3.3 bb 4.10.01 tmo and would lose signal intermittently during wifi web surfing. Would lose edge svc as well and would come back tmo cell only. I had heard or read somewhere that flaw at bottom left corner of iphone 4 when you cup phone or cover you somehow block signal. I have found that when you turn phone 180 so as to have home key on left side during txting or surfing seem to help alot . Also getting a hard case help keep my signal constant.

Mine is just the opposite to what you said. When 3G is disabled, the signal drops to no service and never come back alive again. If I enbale the 3G, when the signal drops, it would eventurally find the signal back. However, the drop and searching for signal happens back and forth, which is too annoying. Would you reckon it is a hardware faulty in my case? Thanks!

Just by iphone4 it self is good, also i do face some problem like you all, the signal is very weak. I compare my iphone to frieands one and i was amaze that he's having a very good signal than me. so i compare both setting and one thing i notice that he haven't update his software i suppose still the original. this time i do have 4.3.5 and suddenly i cant go back to 4.X.X.... any of you know how to perhaps increase the signal? Cheers,,,

Assuming people are still following this thread, iOS5 does *not* fix this bug. After a full factory reset & upgrade, the bug persists.

There are some indications that a few people upgrading from the pre-bug 4.x builds to iOS5 are now encountering this bug, so perhaps as more and more people get burnt, Apple will eventually stop ignoring us and actually fix it.
