No. You Cant resume it. But there is a site to which you can download the file using a file manager then resume it.

This is annoying, I just had my update restart and it was almost all the way through. Kind of kills the excitement of getting the new iOS.

Workaround is fair enough but I want the update straight from Apple and I don't want to manage my download manually.

Here, here!  I've been trying to download the iOS5 update for my touch for the past couple of days.  My DSL connection is terrible and drops out periodically thus killing my download and starting all over .  It has been years that browsers have had download managers that are able to resume after an interruption.  Why is iTunes so antiquated in this regard?!  Very frustrating!

dont know why the download starts all over again ,it will start from start if halted,try having good and fast connection.

I think that's the whole point of this thread ... i.e., what to do when you DON"T have a good, stable, fast connection.  iTunes should be smart enough to handle a disruption, just like <<name any modern webbrowser here>> can already do. 

For what it's worth I was finally able to get the file to download from the felixbruns site previously posted. However, it wouldn't install.  iTunes would pop up a message saying that I had to go through it in order to update. Maybe this is new?  Don't know, but in the end I was forced to wait fro my cable internet connection to be installed and ditch mt lousy CenturyLink DSL.  Then it finally worked; not that the problem is solved, as iTunes download manager still *****, and that is the real issue here, not connection speed.

you shouldn't have tried installing the ios from the other site it don't work,I had tried doing that way I also not succeed.again try updating

Well, looks like iOS 5 now updates straight on the iPhone/iPod/iPad with no need to connect it to iTunes?

Same prblm here too.I have downloaded the file of 1.2 GB for iphone 4s  but how to use it.
