Mac Mini MC238LL/A mini-display port audio support

Does this Mac Mini (Model # MC238LLA) support audio over the mini display port? I am curious to know if anyone got this working (Video and Audio) with a minidisplay to HDMI adapter connected to a TV - without having to run an additional cable for Audio.

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Actually the reports for that model are a mixed bag. When the model was released in Late 2009 the mini-DisplayPort did not support audio. In 2010, after the first MacBooks Pro were introduced supporting audio over m-DP folks were reporting that new Mac minis made after that did support audio over m-DP. So the answer depends on the date a particular Mac mini of that model was manufactured.

But you can easily solve the issue with this adapter if the mini in question does not support audio over m-DP;

Hello,

I also have been trying to get audio to work via MDP to HDMI on my MacBook Pro, and have been surfing groups to find out how but it seems that many people have had no luck.

But with a little trial and error, I found that the video sets itself up (plug and play) however the audio settings need selecting and hey presto the audio does work.

Hope my maiden post helps.

Regards Guy.
