MAC Mail not saving all sent items

Hi,

I'm using OS X 10.6.7 and using MAC Mail over an IMAP connection.

For some reason this particular MAC Mail is not saving / recording all sent emails. The recipient is receiving them all so they've definitely been sent, but they're not appearing in the sent items / sent folders.

I have tried exactly the same IMAP account on another OS X 10.6.7 mac and ALL emails appear in the sent items.

It seems there is a fault / bug with the MAC Mail. Is there any hotfixes out there or any steps to try to ensure evry sent email is logged / saved in the sent folders?

Thanks

Chris

I don't know if this solution is mentioned yet, 44pages..
But it worked for me:

- In your inbox folder, create a new folder named: Send Messages
- Select the folder "Send Messages"

- Go to Mailbox -> Use this mailbox as -> Send mailbox

- Send a test mail and see if it will appear in the "Send Messages" mailbox!

Hope this will work for you!

Since a few weeks I have connection problems when using Mail. Server doesn't accept passwords from several mail accounts. But the problem is pretty random. Sometimes it's there and the next time it isn't. Since these problems I am also losing mail I've sent (e.g. they don't appear in my sent items).

Thunderbird is working fine though so I am pretty sure it has to do with some update in Mail or OSX.

Anybody an idea what is could be?

Note: I use all my mail account throught imap.

I finally captured the problem and sent the capture log as Apple requested and they sent this response:

"I have heard back from engineering on your issue. At this time Apple is aware of the issue and investigating. At this time we do not have a solution.

As a work around you could CC yourself so you could get a copy of the sent message."

I am happy for this. Now we wait.

There are other new problems with the lastest version. Related to the above, some messages remain in the Drafts folder after they are sent. If I detele messages and select another folder and step back to the Inbox, the messages reappear instead of being in the Trash. These also seem to be IMAP synchronization issues.

I also have a client who has this problem. Now i am wondering are you guys also using mobile devices and do they sync the same accounts and do they behave the same way?? I have a feeling they are related in time of sync. I also hope that this will get sorted. I have similar setup as my client but can't get the same result.

setup mac mini lion server mailserver , mbpro lion apple mail, iphone 4.

I'm experiencing this issue too: Emails I send are not reliably appearing in the 'Sent' folder of OS X Lion's Mail.app.

I'm astonished that this issue has been affecting users (both Snow Leopard and Lion) for over a year and Apple hasn't fixed it. For a ten-year-old email client and email service (iTools, .DotMac, MobileMe and now iCloud), this is ridiculous.

Whether an iCloud issue (unlikely given users were affected pre icloud and pre-Lion) or a Mail.app issue, is this another reason for me to switch to a reliable email service and a reliable email client?

We managed to solve our own problems with Rackspace email / Mac Mail.

In our case, the team of 6 people are using a mix of Snow Leopard / Lion, and the problem was occuring in both cases.

We found the solution from the Rackspace support documentation.

Solution: Uncheck all checkboxes in "Mailbox behaviors"

I hope this could help some people, even though I realize that the problem in the most persisting cases is much more technical.

i understand that there's some kind of bug that is causing the copying of sent mail to the sent folder to be intermitent. This is very disconcerting. What I want to know is whether my mail actually sent? Has anyone experienced their mail not getting to the recipient? I just sent quite a long, indepth email and now I'm concerned it's not have made it to the intended recipients inbox. This is pretty basic stuff, jesus christ. I am just expected to wait and see if the recipient replies now? When you're trying to run a business the last thing you need to be worrying about is whether your email has reached it's destination or not. Sending email shouldn't be like sending a letter in the post.

Please let me know, is the overblown 'swoosh' sound 100% confirmation that the bloody thing has actually sent or not?
