Changing email provider doesnt help. Not using apple software does help: Postbox, Thunderbird, Opera Mail, Outlook. Anything than mail.app works fine.

Changing email provider worked for me, none of the other clients were s good as Mail.

Using a properly compliant Imap system (almost anything but Google) is all that is needed.

It is NOT about my email provider not being properly compliant (and it is not Google). I have used this email provider with Mail for 7 years and this problem only started happening relatively recently. Other users have this problem with Mail, Apple admitted it is a bug back in 2012, so I will not change my email provider when there is nothing to guarantee that with another provider it will go away. And changing email addresses is inconvenient. Apple must just fix this.

If the imap systen of the professionell german provider that I use, one of the largest in germany and not cheap, if this system is not good enough for the holy piece of apple software, why does it work with every other client, with all versions of iOS and all operating systems?

    Got some attribution for that?

Then instead of complaining to other Apple users just like yourself, why not complain to Apple.

Who is your provider, secrets are worthless here.

    Managed Exchange, Imap or POP?

If you read the first messages in 2012 you will see people contacting Apple and getting the answer that they have admitted it is a bug they are working on. It is not something they have never heard of before.

I will contact them but something tells me I will not be the last person to do so...

Mapping is making sure that the server and the client are using the same folders (especially for sent items) so that Sent mail doesn't vanish into some other folder.

In fact, it turns out I cannot contact them. It asks me to "Purchase a single incident of support. £35.00" because my computer is no longer under warranty. Is there not a way to simply report software bugs? I'm not going to risk paying £35 just to find out if it is a known bug that is being worked on or not... On the support page you only get an option to discuss 'Mail' if you select your hardware and OSX.

    IMAP Server is port 993

    SSL

    authentification: password

    idle unchecked
