How do I create albums for my iPod?

Okay, I've posted a thread before but now I am still stuck...nothing new there!

I wish to keep my files all tidy within my iPod, like a good owner should, however it ain't working out...I'll explain............

.............I have created a new folder; let's call it 'music of today'.

I'll now create a playlist within 'music of today', I'll call that 'Jem' - all music by Jem is now being transfered from my library into the playlist folder called 'Jem'.

I now want to transfer 'Jem' onto my iPod. I'll transfer my folder, with my playlist attached, to my connected iPod. Its now finished transfering. I have now viewed my iPod in this order:

music> Album > ...........Oh? No title only the listed music from my playlist. I was expecting my album title: Jem !!??

I wipe the iPod clear and instead of transfering the folder I simply just transfer my playlist....but the same thing is happening.

How do I get my playlist onto my iPod so that it is well organised and the album show the name of the album rather than just the playlist.

I am really, truly stuck since I believe I have tried various methods but my iPod doesn't want to show the album name - what am I doing wrong. I have checked out the apple site and the manual but it really doesn't go into too much depth where this is concerned. :o)

Thanks.

I don't think you can make an "album" named Jem.

The actual music tracks have the real album name in
the music file, in the ID3 tag.

So the playlist "Jem" is what you need to start
playing on your iPod, for those songs.

Hey thanks for your response.

If I copy the album, Jem, into a playlist and then copy it to my iPod the album still lists the tracks and not the title of the album Jem - the track listing will also appear in songs, playlist and artists, surely this isn't right?

I thought, such as album > click > lists the album title (Jem or whatever album was copied over) and > click again would feature the album tracks/playlist....but this isn't happening.

I have tried various ways of copying an album into my iPod yet the same thing occurs over and over regardless of the method that I use...............its very frustrating.

I hope you or anyone can advise further, thanks.

Are you using iTunes??

To create a PLAYLIST, you do not need to create a FOLDER first. If you want to create a plylist called 'Jem' you just need to click the add playlist button within iTunes and name it Jem.

But maybe I'm just misunderstanding you and that's exactly what you are doing.

Within iTunes you can just make a playlist called Jem and put all your music by Jem in there. Help me to understand you...
