How can I see what computers are authorized?

Hi All,

How can I see what computers are authorized? I have 4 authorized and I know of only 2 of them. I don't want to DeAuthorize them all, as my daughter is away at college and her laptop is one of the 4. I have access to many computers as I'm a SysAdmin and I believe 2 of them are computers I know longer have.

Thanks,

Joe

there is no option to view which computers you have authorized but if you log into your iTunes store account, you will be able to see how many computers are authorized.

log into your account via iTunes and you will see an entry for authorized machines. there you will see the number of computers that are authorized for that account.

once a year you will be able to deauthorize all machines. click here for more information.

The only method available to deauthorize computers you no longer have is to kill the group and then reauthorize the ones you need now. It's actually the path of least resistance for all parties involved.

If you need to know the technical reasons behind this approach you may want to ask at the nearest Apple Store so they can be sure to answer all of your questions.

Good luck in any case.

Joe,

I have the same problem/question as you. My iTunes account info says I have 4 authorized computers, but I don't know which of the multiple macs I use are authorized and do not want to deauthorize all of them. Some may be on machines used at previous work places which I no longer have access to, one may not even be operable. What do you mean when you say you "killed the group" and started over?

Thanks,

Erin

I checked and found there are 4 computers authorized for the iTunes store on my account. The trouble is I only have two computers and an iPhone. I cannot see the list in case someone is using my account without my knowledge? I haven't bought a new computer in three years so something is wrong here.

And what happens to my account when and if I deauthorize the entire list? Will I lose some purchases accidently? Oh No! Don't tell me nothing ever goes wrong here accidently.

In order to see which devices are authorized on your account:

Open iTunes

Click Store

Click Account

Click View Account

Enter your password

Look in the second section iTunes in the Cloud

To the far right you'll see Manage Devices

Once it's clicked you will see all of the devices currently authorized in iTunes/on your account

I was going to say, "Hope this helps," but based on the above, I'm pretty sure it did!

Thanks guys...

For anyone who may come across this thread, Tina is incorrect. That doesn't show all the systems that are authorized to a given account, only those which are set up for automatic downloads or redownloading, which isn't the same as those that are authorized to an account to play protected content. There is no way to see a list of those systems which are authorized to the account.

Having the same problem. iPad loads 50% of my shared libary then hangs. It keeps accessing Wifi like its trying to continue but, even after 10 minutes, nothing happens. What's strange is that it used to work last week and still works fine on my iPhone 5. Both have iOS6.

I was having a cache problem where random items kept appearing in the shared library (misc music & strange artwork appearing in the movie list). I logged out and then logged back in. But, since then, it only loads to 50%. Tried some of the suggested fixes such as turning Home Share on & off, then resetting the computer and iPad but nothing seems to work so far.

Wonder if its a corrupt cache?? Anyone try resetting their device from scratch? Debating it but don't want to have to reinstall everything.

Peter can not talk for Varjak but the difference is that it only shows the authorised devices that are up to date and using the iCould sync stuff. I have Authorised my account on two iMacs, a MacBook and a PC, that PC is not being used now and so boxed up and as I kind of stopped using it a while back its iTunes is very out of date. It does not show up in the list of Devices but does count towards the number of computers authorised in the number above. However if you have not got your ID still in use on old systems, then yep its the same thing totaly.
