Scaling a Pages Document

I create posters in Pages. These are documents that are a single page 36" by 84" in size and print them on a poster printer. I used to do this in AppleWorks (Draw program). After creating a large poster, I usually have to also save a miniture version of it that will fit on a regular piece of papter (8.5 by 11, or tabloid). In AppleWorks I could use Page Setup to downscale the entire document... Or I could save the entire document as a graphic and then scale the graphic down. But in Pages I can't find a way to do this.

How can I take a large poster and easily down scale it to be able to save it as a smaller document? I don't care if the smaller document is in Pages, or PDF, or JPG, or GIFF, or any other formate.

I've tried going to Page Setup and selecting 25% for scaling and saving as a PDF file... that does save a PDF file but it's at 100% of the original size not 25%.

Hello RandyW,

in Pages you can't resize the document with all it's content automaticaly. But if you save the document in it's normal size as a PDF, you can load it into Preview and print it from there with a document size of your choice. Set the percent field corrosponding to the output size, or Preview will only crop the document at the output size borders. This is the only way I know, but maybe there are better tools for this job that other members know.

RandyW,

I just tried scaling a 12" x 12" document down to print on an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper and it worked. What I did was go to File > Print and then where it says Copies & Pages, click on that and select Paper Handling. Now you can choose Scale to Fit Paper Size and you can choose the size of the paper you want to print to. This worked for me. Should be what you're looking for. Just choose to save as PDF and you should be good to go.

Eric,

That is the way I learn the most about the programs I use, look around & try things out. I'm always learning something new!

RandyW,

The new system for discussions asks that after you mark your question as answered, you take the time to mark any posts that have aided you with the helpful tag and the post that provided your answer with the solved tag. This not only gives points to the posters, but points anyone searching for answers to similar problems to the proper posts. If we use the forums properly they will work well.
