Is your iPod.app on your iPhone 4 running 4.3.3 using internet for a little while when it just opens?? Why is that?

Everytime I open the app, it doesnt matter if its already running background it will use for a little while the data API (internet).. I thought it was for Ping, but Ping is disabled.. Do you have the same problem? I think this can drain battery if you open the app several times a day. I'd like to stop. You have any idea of what is going on?

My iPhone 4 is running iOS 4.3.3.

It may be contacting the mother ship for Genius list updating and/or authorization. Mine does it to and the short time it does it would not really significantly impact battery life unless you open it 200 times or so.
