My Mac Pro will not let me calibrate the microphone in the speech preferences window, any ideas?

When I try to calibrate the microphone of appple LED Cinema Display (27 ") with the Mac Pro is as if no sound detected, but instead in the "Sound" window, in the tab "Input" sound detected.

Any ideas?
