I had an early white Intel MacBook that had numerous issues with the various cases cracking. I believe these were caused by running Windows XP under Boot Camp, which always made my MacBook run very hot.

From your description is sounds like you have a Model 5.2 Early 2009. From that Apple page that Kappy provided 64 bit Windows will only work on the MacBook model 6.1 Late 2009 and later.

To check which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier.

If it's the 5,2 you can only use 32 bit Windows. But Snow Leopard will run fine on it.

Thanks Fred after much searching I finally got the bad news I feared. Mine is a 5.1

I wonder if there is much noticable difference between running in 64 and 32 for windows 7...I use it for training only.

32-bit will probably be faster.

Kappy you are right. I tried loading the 32 bit windows xp in Boot Camp and it works better.

One problem I face now and it is a pain, I cannot change the screen resolution. It is stuck at 800x600 and when I go to the control panel to change it the button is faded and I cannot click on it.

Any ideas how to change the screen resolution up to 1200?

You need to install the Windows drivers. They should be on your Snow Leopard DVD. Pop it in while booted into Windows, and it should start the installer automatically.

I have done that. Windows runs ok but I cannot change the screen resolution.

forced into Windows 7 32 bit due to a computer that is too "old" yet still under extended warranty...figure that out.

Anyway, I need to change the screen res any ideas?
