I go to discussions, click log in, get a screen with my AppleID and enter my password. Click OK and I am stuck forever at an error screen with this messgae. The link on the page takes me to the same page again.

And i cannot do anything on Apple support communities. When I go to safari preferences and look at cookies, there is one for discsusions.apple.com whose data value is literally "INVALID". I delete that and go back to discussions main page and I am logged in.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem, and found the same workaround, on my iMac 24" 2009 running 10.5.8.

Instead on my new MacBook Pro i7 15" running Snow Leopard the problem seems slightly different: in place of "9: invalid cookie supplied [...]" the message "Looking for something in Apple Support Communities? - The page you tried was not found. You may have an outdated link [...] - Please visit the main page of Apple Support Communities [...]" is returned. Obviously I didn't write any link, but I just signed in using my correct user and password.

In this case I don't need to delete cookies, but clicking on the provided link "Apple Support Communities" returns where I was supposed to return.

Any way to return Feedback to Apple about this ?

Thanks

Piero

BTW: signing in just after signing out the Community works as expected.

FWIW, I have had the same myacinfo cookie with the same "INVALID" content & it has not interfered with signing in, nor does it make any difference one way or the other if I delete it.

For sign in issues, I suspect the cookies to watch are the "jive.user.loggedin" one, which should be set to "true" if you are, & possibly the "JSESSIONID" one, which should be unique for each sign in.

Honestly I'm unsure which cookie was the 'offending' one - I deleted any discussion related cookies, there were 5 or 6 of them. Both yesterday and today it appeared to be the only way for me to access the forums. Next time I'll delete them one at a time to see which is the problem.

I am so glad that cookie is not interfering with your ability to login and use Apple Support Communities.

It IS an ongoing problem for me, and makes it impossible for me to log on. Unless and Until I delete exactly that cookie, I find that I can not use Apple Support Communities. After I have deleted that cookie, I can proceed as a logged in user.

You additional input (beyond stating that it is not a problem for you) is not helpful.

All I can tell you is what I have observed on three different Macs, all running 10.6.7 & Safari 5.0.5. If the myacinfo cookie isn't set, as soon as I visit discussions.apple.com, even before signing on it is set with a value of "INVALID," along with a sessions ID cookie, among others. When I close the site, the sessions ID cookie is removed, but not the myacinfo one, which remains.
