i cant open safari on my pc, application opens and then isnstantly frezzes

I am having massive issues trying to get safari to work on my hp laptop running windows 7. It has worked previously but for a few months now i just cant get it work. When you click on the icon the page begins to open and the instantly freezes and the load bar stops halfway along. If you go into task manager it shows as safari not responding, all other apple software, mobile me, itunes, quick time all work perfectly well. any ideas guys

Can you check something further for me please, Craig? I'd like to try to work out if this is a systemwide problem, or if it's limited to a single user account. (This isn't going to be a cure in itself, but it should help narrow in on the most sensible troubleshooting options to try next.)

Create a new Windows User account with full administrative rights. Now log out of your usual user account, and log into the new one. Try to launch Safari in the new user account.

Does it launch in there or do we get the same sort of freeze as in the normal account?

Did it start to have trouble after an update to Safari?

I don't know how Safari finds plug-ins and 3rd party extensions.

Could be something that isn't compatible.

Most any app has option to open in Safe Mode.

With Safari, I'd suspect corrupt history index and files, web cache.

I run CCleaner daily or more often to keep cookies, cache and form data trimmed and deleted.

- go to AppData and find everything related to safari in Local and Roaming - save your bookmarks if needed.
