What if my iPad explodes?

So the Foxconn factory that makes iPads just had an explosion. I heard a batch of iPad batteries were the cause of the explosion. Does that mean my iPad can explode during normal use? I really don't want my iPad to explode while using it or kill me.

I read the article and the Foxxcon factory is claiming they created the explosion in the manufacturing line by accident. It didn't say batteries exploded inside iPads, so I really doubt you have anything at all to worry about. If it's going to give you nightmares, you'll likely find a long line of people who would be more than willing to buy your iPad from you. They still can't catch up with demand......

Well obviously the iPad's at the Foxconn factory exploded. I've also heard stories of peoples iPods exploding IN THEIR POCKET! I'm a bit worried now.

And I've heard stories about elves and alien abductions. Doesn't make them true. If you could provide a link to a reputable news source with a documented occurance, I'd be interested.

In theory, if you carry a lithium ion battery loose in your pocket and something conductive, such as a paperclip where to be pressed across the contacts, the battery might start to get hot. It might, in extreme circumstances, even smoke. However, as the battery in both the iPhone and the iPad is enclosed in the device, this is less likely. You might be able to cause a problem if you jammed something in the charging port. With normal use, cell phones don't explode.

Worry about getting hit by a driver who's talking on a cell phone while driving. I suspect it's far more likely to happen.

Are you ignoring the fact that there was an iPad explosion at a factory like Apple is ignoring the fact that Macs now have malware running on them?

Clearly you are quite disturbed at the possibility of an iPad conflagration, I share your concern and am offering to save you from the disaster that looms. Please send your iPad to me and I will guarantee to keep you safe from it.

All Macs don't have malware, but if someone enters their Mac's admin password to download so-called antivirus software (that supposedly scanned their entire hard drive in a matter of seconds) to rid their Mac of a number of reported viruses on their Mac, he/she will install bogus software - a hoax - not any legitimate antivirus software along with being prompted to provide a credit card to purchase the so called antivirus software before it rids their Mac of a number of viruses that don't exist.

The so called malware is nothing but a phishing scam to get a person's credit card number for absolutely nothing. Apple can do nothing about what lies between a person's ears.

Um, don't buy one.

Or sell the one you have.

Stop using the iPad.

Then you eliminate all risk of personal explosion.

Hmm... interesting. I try to charge my iPad 3 quite often though, meaning if about 70 - 80 % left of the battery (around 2,5 hours of casual use) I put it on charger and never use it 'till it's full. I also need my iPad to be on full charge in the morning so at night I switch it off. Sometimes I let it drop to around 15% then I do an overnight charge. What I want to say Is that I am trying to keep the battery "healthy" , I could not do much more against a battery explosion. I am not an expert on this field, but I bet the guys at Cupertino are. Only one problem I had with Apple's products, it was the overheating of my 2009 late MacBook Pro while playing World Of Warcraft, which was caused by the dust inside the device by the way, can't blame Apple their computer not clean itself internally (not yet anyway). My dad using the latest iMac after he got rid of the 2010 model, my stepmom her 2012 Macbook Air. Never had any problem. They have been to Death Valley in the USA where the iPad had switched off cause of overheating, not exploded at all though (first gen iPad it was).
