What if my iPad explodes?

So the Foxconn factory that makes iPads just had an explosion. I heard a batch of iPad batteries were the cause of the explosion. Does that mean my iPad can explode during normal use? I really don't want my iPad to explode while using it or kill me.

Well obviously the iPad's at the Foxconn factory exploded. I've also heard stories of peoples iPods exploding IN THEIR POCKET! I'm a bit worried now.

And I've heard stories about elves and alien abductions. Doesn't make them true. If you could provide a link to a reputable news source with a documented occurance, I'd be interested.

In theory, if you carry a lithium ion battery loose in your pocket and something conductive, such as a paperclip where to be pressed across the contacts, the battery might start to get hot. It might, in extreme circumstances, even smoke. However, as the battery in both the iPhone and the iPad is enclosed in the device, this is less likely. You might be able to cause a problem if you jammed something in the charging port. With normal use, cell phones don't explode.

Worry about getting hit by a driver who's talking on a cell phone while driving. I suspect it's far more likely to happen.

I read the article and the Foxxcon factory is claiming they created the explosion in the manufacturing line by accident. It didn't say batteries exploded inside iPads, so I really doubt you have anything at all to worry about. If it's going to give you nightmares, you'll likely find a long line of people who would be more than willing to buy your iPad from you. They still can't catch up with demand......

Are you ignoring the fact that there was an iPad explosion at a factory like Apple is ignoring the fact that Macs now have malware running on them?

Clearly you are quite disturbed at the possibility of an iPad conflagration, I share your concern and am offering to save you from the disaster that looms. Please send your iPad to me and I will guarantee to keep you safe from it.
