I have a personal yahoo email account and a work email account. I have established each in the settings on my first-generation iPad, but cannot figure out how to place an icon for each on the home screen or in the dock. Can this be done, and if so how?

You can only have one 'copy' of each app on the iPad - so if you've added multiple email accounts in Settings you have to access them via the one Mail app. Alternatives are to get a third-party app and use that for one of your accounts, or you can use a browser for one of them and have a shortcut/bookmark for it on your homescreen or dock.
Thanks so much, King_Penguin, for both of your suggestions! I set up the second account which I view in the browser anyway, and now I have links to both my mail accounts right there in the dock, so that works perfectly.

No you can not ave two e mail icons in the dock.
