Why am I blocked from a specific site: www.showings.com

There is a interesting? new option in Google, maybe you accidentially hit it: try loggin out of google if logged in.

I'm blocked from toms.com on all browsers. I need to get on their site. Does anyone know how I can fix this? The site works on my ipad and iphone, but not my computer. Thanks!! Jody

It may be the case of your ISP blocking it.

I take it your not stting behind any proxy or your working from a company that uses a DNS-Proxy such as openDNS ?

Nope, open internet. Every other site works but toms.com or tomsshoes.com. 😟 I'm also trying to send them an email and that appears to be having problems too. I hit send and it freezes. Could I have a virus or something?

Not on a Mac, thats very rare. Do you know how to use "Terminal" ?

If you do, try to run a Ping to the sites your getting blocked from. See if you get a reply.

Open Terminal and type

ping toms.com

Also you can try a Trace Route to them.

You can also do this in the Utilities folder in your Mac in the Network Diagnostic program

Looks like Toms.com block ICMP anyways.

Try a trace route and see if you can get all through the hops to the server at the end.

The IP address for them is 65.254.214.23 so your looking for that in the final hop of the trace route

What site are you getting issues with. Can you try to access the site off your wireless network on the local LAN, try it over mobile carriers data connection and see if you can get to it that way.

Eventually I have solved the problem. I had a couple of third party programmes that fired up when I booted my iMac. I disabled these programmes (now deleted them) and I can access the websites without any issues.

Note that this had nothing to do with my ISP, Proxy servers, DNS, add-ons, cached sites/cookies etc.

The problem wasn't my network as I could access the websites on the same network using my iPhone and iPad.

I discovered the solution from a hint about booting up in Safe Mode and when I did that, the very few sites I couldn't access before, loaded up like any other websites. So the problem had to be the third party programmes that don't run when you boot in Safe Mode.
