Just try configuring your program to unzip into a given folder.

If you're going to do nothing but complain about everything not being like Windows, then perhaps you should return. OS X and Windows are not the same nor will the utilities be the same. So cut out the complaints. They don't win any friends here. Furthermore, this is your second post about essentially the same problem. Just make one post on the same topic. Get rid of the bold-face font which is the equivalent of shouting. It's rude. Perhaps you failed to learn network etiquette on your PC.

The default behavior of the System unzip is to unzip in place. If you want something more sophisticated you'll want a 3rd party application.

There are a number of them out there:

Zipeg does allow you to choose a folder but I'm not sure how it handles multiple files. I use it because it allows you to preview zip contents before you extract things.

Yemuzip lets you set a destination folder then simply drag and drop archives into it and automatically unpacks them into the given folder. You can control which folder from a drop down menu.

No particular endorsement here of any of there just some I know of personally. Versiontracker.com used to the place to search for free/shareware utilities like this but it's been taken over by Cnet so now it might be better or worse.

Good luck,

I use Stuffit Expander. Although its default is to decompress things 'in place', in its preferences you can designate a specific folder destination for all decompresses.

Note, though - if the original item that was zipped had been placed in an enclosing folder prior to compressing (which is very common practice, particularly for a multi-file thing), when uncompressed it will still be in that folder, even though placed in your designated target folder.

Hi

If you enable the Archives preference pane, it allows easily setting a specific target folder for both expanding & archiving.

If you want to try it -

Use Finder - Go - Go to folder & paste in

/System/Library/CoreServices/Archive Utility.app/Contents/Resources/

that should take you to a folder, containing Archives.prefPane

double-click that & you can install it for the current or all users.

ctrl or right click to remove it - but that doesn't reset the preferences you changed.
