Audiobooks are not syncing to my iTouch

I just imported several audiobooks as well as downloaded some from the iTunes store, they are all in the audiobooks folder but when I go to add them to my iTouch the only book (note: actual book) that shows up is one that came with my iTouch. I have made sure they are in audiobook format (file > get info > options > audiobook) and have even tried to create a playlist for them but that palylist doesnt show up either. Also playing the begining part of the files has not worked for me for the system to recognize them.
