How can I read my iBooks on my PC?

Is it possible to read my iBooks on my PC

If yes, how do I do it?

If no - when is this going to be able to happen?

Thanks

I have a desktop PC with iTunes, but I have an Apple iPad with iBooks

I'm asking here in the iBooks forum as it relates to iBooks, I'll also ask in iPad because it relates to iPad as well

iPad, Windows 7

I'm surprised this still hasn't been resolved officially.

Today I can only read iBooks on Apple devices, while competitors like Google Play Books and Amazon's Kindle have apps available for most platforms and also web based readers.

I'm not asking for a dedicated Windows/Android app but is it to much to ask just having the ability to log into iCloud on my browser and read these books?

I have tried epub reader mozilla add-on and it work on books from iBooks,

the name of the books were:

Cocoa Fundamentals Guide

iOS Application Programming Guide

iOS Technology Overview

Object-Oriented Programming with Objective-C

The Objective-C Programming Language

all of those books were authored by Apple and I believed were DRMed,

Download the add on here

install it to your firefox browser and browse your hardrive for your purchased books from iBooks which is ussually located at

C:\Users\XXXXXX\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Books\Apple Developer Publications

XXXXXX stands for your username.

Open mozilla firefox with epub reader add on installed and drag and drop any iBooks books you want into it.

Hope this helps,

Don't forget to hit like, thanks.

OS used: Win 7 ultimate

Firefox version: 8.0.1

EPUBreader add on verion: 1.4.1.0

tried that - doesn't work.

I'm not talking free books or Apple produced books here, I'm meaning books like ActionScript 3.0 by Roger Braunstein, or Flash Professional CS5 by Finkelstien et.al.

and actually, even the book that I got for free when I first downloaded iBooks when I first purchased my iPad (Winnie the Pooh by AA Milne) even it wont open in the way you suggest.

Situation Still not solved.

At $30 - $40 a book I'm not sharing them sorry

why so much? they are textbooks for my study - and I decided to go ebook to save paper, postage, and bookshelf space

All I get is the standard DRM message for those ones.

Anything that I didn't pay for - ie all the free ones - they open no problems at all in the same way as you have in your screen shot.

I know you are trying to help - but I'm sorry, I doubt that the publishers of a $40 e-book would appreciate me emailing it to someone who could then email it to everyone they know etc.

Nothing personal of course - I just happen to know a bit about copyright rules and regulations in that respect and what you asked me to do is not just bordering on illegal but also in my opinion un-ethical.

Sorry.

So.... If I buy a book for my eReader it allows me to also read it on my PC, laptop and Droid (up to 6 registered devices) but if I buy a book on iTunes I can only read it on an iPad? Sorry, Apple, looks like I may as well stick to buying my books elsewhere since I don't have any other Mac products. Glad I'm doing this kind of research BEFORE I actually bought an iPad.

No, because Apple is a corporation intent on making money. I suggest going to the store and buying a paper copy, that will play everywhere and it will not require you to use an apple device.

I downloaded the iBooks app and again got suckered by apple into an underachieving application. I really hope apple eventually collapses under it's own pompoms business model which makes you jump hopes to get the simplest of items.

I doubt this response will help, but at least it helped me vent.

Don't get iBooks, GET KINDLE OR KOBO, anything but this poor excuse for an e-book reader.

If you buy a book on Amazon, it can only be read on a Kindle or a Kindle app. They are as specific as Apple's iBook. Nook is the same way. If you buy from books on board or kobo, you can put them on Nook or iBook but not on Kindle. Amazon books can only be read on Kindle or with Kindle app. That is much more restrictive. Until recentely, you could not even check out a book from the library. Even now they have their own mobi version.

People need to realize that the ebook trade is restrictive to the place you bought it. Each puts its own DRM on them which prevents them from being read on another ebook reader.

I didn't read the whole line of posts but if you purchased your ebook, you can find a drm removal program and then you can put them on any ereader, except of course, Kindle.

There is the option ( if you like science fiction ) of going to Baen for e-books.

$6 each, no DRM and available for download in all the common formats such as ePub, html, mobi ( Kindle ) etc.

I don't work for them but would point out that their business model seems to have worked OK for the last 10 years or so,

Oh, and if you buy a hardback version of one of their books it may come with a CD of DRM-free books that you are encouraged to share as they feel that this persuades people to try the books and then come and buy others.
