How can I read my iBooks on my PC?

I want an iBooks reader for Windows. I love iBooks Author for it's functionality (The EULA doesnt bother me - I'm not selling anything) - there is no other epub authoring app with the same widgets or ease of use around. I just want people to be able to read my books no matter what platform they are on. COME ON APPLE - GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER AND GIVE US IBOOKS FOR PC!!!!!

It worked for me, but I had to finagle it.

C:\Users\XXXXXX\Music\iTunes\Previous iTunes Libraries\iTunes Media\Books

In C:\Users\XXXXXX\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media I had no books option, so on a hunch I clicked the Previous iTunes Libraries option.

Also, XXXXXX stands for your username.

Shadowhawk... you and rest of the naysayers have it wrong, it is possible. It is obvious and simple way, but I wouldn't go to details, because it could be considered infringement. Strange Apple world we live in; you purchassed and downloaded book to your overpriced iPad and Apple wouldn't allow you to read it on your way overpriced iMac. Go figure.

Well Tom, as you are probably aware, I may run (and I exclusively do) on my owerpriced iMac MS OS and I have searched heavens and earth, but I can't find iBooks for it. So, it is still the case; I can't read book published by Apple on Apple product. If you know how I can get the app for my iMac MS OS, I would be gratefull.

If you are using your iMac to run only Windows, then your suffering is indeed self-inflicted.

Tom, so you implying that the 8% out of all operating systems in the world Apple OS users are on the mark and 90% of MS OS users are idiots? I just like to see Apple making my life easier; they are the ones who published iTunes for MS OS; but for some unknown reason to me, they limit its use. Take for example WeChat app; it is available for all platforms.

Not at all. Apple should definitely make an iBooks app for Windows. But not running OS X and the iBooks app it comes with on your iMac is your personal problem, nobody elses.

That won't let you read the majority of ibooks from Apple, most have digital-rights-management on them which tie them to the iBooks apps - you will potentially be able to read free ibooks and those from publishers who don't include DRM on their ibooks, but it won't let you read most paid-for ibooks.

Open up the iBook you purchased with ePub Reader for Windows V5.2 (available for free on CNET http://download.cnet.com/ePub-Reader-for-Windows/3000-2125_4-75824080.html)

Location of iBook:

C:\Users\<yourname>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Books\<bookname>

This works for me on my PC.

Such apps cannot open books from the iBookstore with DRM, which includes most paid for books. Or any books in the .ibooks format even if they do not have DRM.

I have purchased for free "Honors Chemistry: Matter - Properties and Changes" by Sylvia E. Maffucci from my iTunes from my PC and I am unable to view or even read this book from my iPhone 5s's iBook app. I get a messages that says that I have to open it from my iBook app on iPad or Mac, but for some reason its not viewable from my iBook app on my iPhone. I have 30+ purchased ibooks NOT free books and I have added them to a library in my firefox browser! Follow the simple steps from my first reply and see for yourself. mozilla Firefox and Epub Viewer add-on then open the ibooks file location in windows explorer and select open with Firefox and viola.

Well it is just Apple getting in the way of Apple....I will not buy anymore books from them...Amazon's apps run on all platforms , and often their prices are better... so Goodbye Apple, hello Amazon Prime....
