I'd like to add a 'metoo' as I'm trying to restore the firmware for a Macbook 6,1 (Late 2009) and cannot find it anywhere on Apple's website or on the internet.

One thing to be aware of (as I've unfortunately learnt this the hard way..) is that if you apply the Macbook Pro 2009 firmware (MacbookPro5,5) to your Macbook 6,1, it will work - but it will BREAK Mac OS X Sierra (10.12). One reason to apply this firmware is if you are trying to fix the Sata controller bug (where a Sata3 SSD connected to your Macbook will connect at 1.5Gbit (instead of 3Gbit). Some posts suggest installing the MBP firmware which may fix this issue. It doesn't, sadly. In any case after you've done this your OS will be borked if you had Sierra installed.

This is because Sierra does NOT support being installed on the 2009 MBP but is supported on the 2009 MB.

It took me a while to work this out - and the only way to get Sierra installed will be to find a way to restore the firmware back to MB61.

I have the same problem after installing Ubuntu.

The installation somehow managed to damage the EFI firmware.

I can't find the firmware restoration cd for Macbook6,1 anywhere on Apple's site (or elsewhere on the internet). The complete list of firmwares (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237) doesn't include this model, and jumps from Macbook5,2 straight to Macbook7,1.

Where can I get the right version of the firmware to restore it?

Thanks

Ok,

First, forgive my english 🙂

Second: our problem, all with the same problem.

Today I phoned to the apple support and they did not help me 😟

But the guy promised he will write to the engineers and let me know by mail. Hope on it.

Does anyone find a solution?

Because I see MB7,1 firmware (and it is also an EFI 2.0, a Win7 fully compatible EFI, probably without using hybrid MBR) and I know MB 7,1 is a little update of 6,1 so I am thinking to try it...
