You have told the iPad what the security code is?
Yes, on the iPad I entered the correct security code.
When I configure my router with all security turned off the iPad is connected to the internet.
When I configure my router with security setting WPA2 and WPS the iPad cannot connect.
Pad not connecting to a Secure Wi-Fi signal
Turn OFF your wifi hub so the network is not broadcasting (or go out of range) so the
iPad can no longer see the SSID
Choose another network
Type in the SSID (WiFi Network name)
Select the security type
Enter the password
At this point, you will not be able to join the network (it is not turned on or you walked out of range, remember?)
Turn ON your network hub and wait for the DSL or Internet to get connected, (30 secs to 1 minute in my case) or walk back in range
Then click the Join button on the iPad
Voila, as they say in Texas
If iPad cannot connect with WEP/WPA, use MAC Address Filter to secure your network.
Better than running with no protection.
Not according to the article I linked to.
Turn off WPS in your router. Use WPA2 security.
WPS has been found to be vulnerable to brute force attack and should not be used. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi_Protected_Setup for details.
If you need more help please give the make, model and version of the router that you are using.
