iCal To Do List - invisible until I print - want to delete but can't

I cannot seem to delete my old to do list from when I first bought my iMac in 2007. Currently calendar doesn't show any to do items on the right side bar under to do list no matter which filter I use but whenever I print the calendar, these old to do items print. Unchecking "Tasks" on the left side during print or while in iCal does not help. Where are these old to do items hiding and how can I get rid of them? It may have happened from synching with the "Missingsync" on my Blackberry Pearl prior to my getting an iPhone because one of the tasks is "Get the most out of Outlook 98" But you would think if it is printing it should be visible somewhere to delete. I have looked back in the calendar to 2006 and no sign of these items. Help. Thanks

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)
