Find ip address for network device?

Hi,

Have question about the IP address, i got NAS (buffalo) which is work great with snow leopard.

I can access network drive from finder, which is show as Wd-Mybookworld

My problem is sometime i need to access to the NAS to config it, but i cannot find the ip address for Wd-Mybookworld

How can i check the ip address of the NAS, if i can see and access it by its name in the finder???

Or can i juts put its name in the safari address bar and let it link to ip automatically?

Your help are much appreciate.

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Open Network Utility (Applications > Utilities) and select the Ping tab. Type Wd-Mybookworld in the network address window, set the number of Pings from 10 to 4 and press the Ping button. You should get a reply showing the IP address of the NAS.

Its reply back with "cannot resolve .... : Unknown host"

The image in the Finder sidebar would suggest the device supports Bonjour. So you could open Safari, select the bookmarks icon and then select Bonjour in the left pane. If the device does support Bonjour then it should be shown in the right pane.
