Hi, whilst taking a video my iphone 4 just shut off and promted me to connect to itunes, on doing this it requires me to do a system restore which will not complete and pesponds with a message UNKNOWN ERROR (2009)...... anybody have any suggestions?

Try the following:
1. Make sure iTunes is up to date
2. Connect the iPhone using a different USB port. Try and find one that doesn't connect via a hub. On desktop PCs, they're usually at the back (the ones at the front normally connect through a USB hub internally)
3. Disable/stop any anti-virus or software firewall you have running.
