I bought my iPod touch 4G two months ago; a few days ago, it slipped out of my hand and fell flat on its face. However, I had a hard cover on, so the screen did not get any damage. Later on, though,I noticed there was a dent in the chrome near the dock connector, which does not make sense. Do you think that the 1 year AppleCare would cover this? now, my sync cable doesn't fit in and I cant charge my iPod.

I doubt it since the warranty, including the extended AppleCare warranty doe not cover abuse like dropping the iPod. However, you can always make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and discuss it with them.
Not to worry,
I was feeling curious and put a flat-head screwdriver in. By pushing a little by little, I've made enough space for the sync cable to get through!
All that's left is a tiny dent, which is barely visible.
