Question about Find my IPod function

I just turned on my Find My IPod touch function and am wondering, since just anyone could turn off this function, wouldn't it somehow defeat the purpose? Like say someone steals my IPod. Could that person just turn the function off since it doesn't have any kind of password protection? Might be a stupid question, but just curious.

Not really. You could/should put a passcode on the iPod though to prevent them from gaining access to anything on your iPod. Of course they could still restore the iPod via iTunes and use it, but at least it would decrease the chances of them gaining access to any of your personal information because it would need to be wiped out first before they could use the iPod.
