I'm an American living in France. When I connect to iTunes store I'm automatically connected to the French one I guess because I connect to the internet via a local French ISP (Orange.fr) . How can I get switched to the US or UK store ?

Thank you, your suggestion worked but when I try to sign in to the US site I'm told that I can only buy things in the French iTunes site. I'm an American citizen and I have a Visa card on my account at Bank of America in California. Is there a way to get signed up on the US site ?
You can buy ONLY from the itunes store of your country if residence AND ONLY while physically inside that country.
From the itunes store terms of service:
"The Service is available to you only in the United States, its territories, and possessions. You agree not to use or attempt to use the Service from outside these locations. Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance."

Just get a US proxy VPN service, that way any site you connect to from France (or anywhere else) while through the Proxy will get a US based IP address, and you can access things as if you were in the states (Netflix, US Appstore, etc...).
