I have previously only been able to get one playlist on my iphone. This is my 2nd attempt. My first attempt was with this same computer. I used the sync option - not the manual managing. The songs I currently have on my iphone I do not want to lose because they are no longer in my library. Surely it cant be difficult to add new songs to your iphone without deleting the ones you already have on your iphone

Why are the songs no longer on your library?

If they are not in your library, then they will absolutely be erased from the iphone when you sync.

EVERYTHING on your iphone should also be on your computer. The iphone is not a storage device. it simply mirrors the selected content of your computer.

You can transfer itunes purchases from the iphone to computer. File>Transfer Purchases

I'm not 100% sure why the songs are no longer in my library. It might be because i) a while ago I had to re-register for itunes on my pc and therefore it wiped my library clean or it might be ii) Because those songs were from a memory stick from a friend which I no longer have.

I guess the question is then is it possible for me to transfer the songs I already have on my iphone into my library so that when I do another sync it will transfer all my songs (i.e songs I have had on my iphone for 8 months and also the new ones I am trying to add). Or will it only let me transfer itune purchases rather than songs I have acquired from a memory stick?

Thank you for your help by the way

Hi there. Not sure how to get to where I can ask you a question so I just jumped in here. Hope thats ok with you.

You seem extremely knowledgeable with solutions to all kinds of questions, 🙂

My problem is I tried to add a playlist from Itunes to my Iphone (5) and it will not add it. I have been doing this for years with all my Iphones and this is the first time its happened. I still have room to add them, so cannot understand what I am doing wrong.

I would really appreciate any help you could offer, thanks in advance!
