I must be dense!   How do I turn itunes off on my iphone 4?  Even when I turn the power off on the iphone, itunes keeps playing.

To turn the phone off you have to press and hold this button until you see a red arrow, then slide the arrow over to shut the phone down -- that is OFF, what you're referring to is Sleep.

No it does not. Your iPhone includes a iPod, which is not iTunes as in the iTunes app on your computer. Even the original iPod was not called mobile/portable iTunes. It is called an iPod, and the iPhone includes an iPod. Pressing the off button by itself does not power the iPhone off. You must press and hold the on/off button until the slide to power off is provided followed by using the slider to power the iPhone off.

OK.  I guess I knew that, but is that the only way to turn itunes off?

I think you mean the iPod. iTunes is not available on the iPhone, and it is impossible for the iPod or anything else to be running on the iPhone when it is powered off.

To stop a song from playing, select pause for the song playing with the iPod.

Thanks.  This is  my 1st iphone.  Had an ipod touch and I guess I was a little confused.  Not the first time that has happened!?!?!?!  Thanks everyone for helping to clear up my confusion.
