macBook chemical smell, what should i do?

Hello, i have trouble finding apple support for my problem. I already brought my macbook 2 times to the place where i bought it. Each time the technical support says they cannot smell anything. Even though each time i open up the macBook Pro a distinct checmical cmell appears. I did not used the macBook much after i bought it and the last weeks i stopped using it entirly. Now each time i open it i shut it back. I still got warranty and without further apple attention i see no other way then to hire a lawyer and get a costly laboratory to affirm the checmical and analyze it contents.

Because i cannot reach apple via email and my apple store is ignoring the problem, i choosen this forum now in hope that i somehow get some attention.

Please refund me or get me a MacBook Pro without distinct chemical smell and im satisifed, Thank You!

No one here can get you another MBP or a refund. We're all just other Mac users. Talk to Apple Customer Relations at 1-800-767-2775 if you're in the USA. If not, call AppleCare.

That said, I've never seen a single other complaint like yours in these forums, so I'm not surprised that you're having a hard time getting anyone to take it seriously.

I too just bought a 17" MacBook pro and it gives off an odor that smells like an electrical short. the machine is not really hot and I don't see any fraying of the power cables. I thought it was just because it was new till I stumbled on to your post. Should I concerned? I'm still transferring everything to my new laptop and testing if my ole programs are compatible with lion.

Hello macR2D2 I just bought the newest model of the MacBook pro about a week ago, and like yourself I am having the same problem with my computer. The smell of the computer does have that bad smell and I can even smell it when I am away from my computer. I will be soon returning my computer as I fortunately bought warranty for it and I will defiantly file a complaint about the issue now that I know that this is actually a concern to other people.
