how to fix error 3194

cant update my 3gs, its giving the error 3194!!! pls help

I have assumed that you are running Windows. Make sure that you have admin rights for your machine. Check under Folder Options that protected folders and files are not hidden. Make sure that you can see hidden files.


Check for the hosts file here: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts. Note that it does not have an extension. If you are using 64-bit, check under System64.


Open with Notepad (you will need admin rights). Delete any lines that refer to gs.apple.com. Save the hosts file without an extension (no .txt, etc).


Reboot your machine and try running the update again. Make sure that you are on the latest version of iTunes.
