Q: delete wrong apple ID from the appstore login

when I try to update my apps on the ipad the box that pops up has the wrong apple ID in it and I can not change it no matter what I do.  I have re set the info in the settings and when viewed there the info is correct.  When I get into the app store I still get the wrong ID no matter what I do... anyone have any suggestions

Because signing out and back in doesn't help some of us. I've signed out and back in a dozen times and the correct Apple ID shows up fine in Settings/iTunes&App Store. But when I then try to update an app, for example, it pre-populates the Apple ID window with my old Apple ID. I've even signed out and then tried to update an app while being signed out, and it still pre-populates with the old ID. I've even signed out and signed in with an altogether different Apple ID and it STILL pre-populates the update with the same old Apple ID.

Not sure if this is relevant, but the old ID that keeps pre-populating was before there was a ".mac" needed. So it keeps pre-populating with my old "xxx" ID when my real ID is "xxx@mac.com".

Delete the affected app from your device and redone load the app while signed into the correct Apple ID. When app are backed up to a device, they are attached to the Apple ID that "purchased" the app, no matter the cost (Free or not). This should solve your issue.

How do I know which app is attached to the Apple ID in question? I can't find that info in the list in my iTunes. Not sure where else to look.

My wife is having the exact same problem. Under settings she is signed in with her own apple ID... but when trying to buy from app store she is constantly asked to type the password of MY apple ID. I haven't been able to find a way to change this and remove MY apple ID from my whifes phone... don't know how it got there except I set up her phone. Anyway, signing in and out of her apple id under settings doesn't change a thing!!! It's really frustrating... and now that I see other people having the same problem even two years ago I'm surprised Apple haven't changed this problem in their updates.

in addition to my previous post, the issue most probably occured because my wifes iphone and mine are connected to the same computer and same iTunes. When she got at new iphone this was restored from the backup of the old one via iTunes. iTunes might have mixed up some of the apps that were originally purchased from my account with the ones that was purchased from my wifes account... I don't know... but it's a problem to delete all apps from the phone to try and figure out which app is causing the problem..

    Problem SOLVED!

I believe the reason for this is that somebody else's account was used in your iTunes when you downloaded an app into your iPhone/iPad.

    Try this:

    1. Delete the app that you suspect was downloaded using another account. Usually this is the app that is showing in the "Updates" category of your App Store.

    2. Now download it again but make sure your account is used in App Store.

Please let me know if this worked for you...it worked for me.

Don't kill yourself , just kill the app by uninstalling it and reinstall it again .

Signing out of the iTunes and back into it does nothing so don't waste your time. In iCloud it says I'm signed in to my Apple ID, but when I try to update my apps in the App Store app it shows my brothers Apple ID I guess because I backed my phone up on his computer. Verizon just sent me a new phone a few days ago because my old phone wouldn't connect to wifi and apparently this is a common issue with iphone 4/4s after the most recent update. And now not only do I have this problem with the "new" (probably refurb) phone, but when I make a call it is so quiet that I can't hear unless i put it on speaker.  I'm getting very irritated

Except it does work. Sing in with yoru brothers AppleID and it will work.

You simply have apps from a different account, not your account with an updated AppleID.
