Ipad App icons are invisible/missing

I have apps I *know* are installed on my iPad, yet do not show up. For example, one of them is the Lifelike Craid app. iTunes says it's there. In fact, the representation for my iPads screens in iTunes shows the missing apps, but the actual screen does not look the same. I have removed and reinstalled the affected apps; no change. Even this morning, there was an update listed in the iTunes store app on my iPad. I chose to update, and the Lifelike Craig icon actually appeared on the screen while it's download progress bar was there. Alas, once the app had finished updated, the icon vanished. If I try to install the app from the iTunes store app on the iPad, it's listed as "already installed." Sadly I cannot even get it (or any of the several other apps behaving this way) to even show up in a search.

Baffling. Please help. Thanks.

iPad 2, iOS 4.3.2

The app appears to have a 17+ rating (or at least it's description says you need to be 17+) - have you hidden apps by setting a maximum age rating via Settings > General > Restrictions > (Allowed Content) Apps
