Dear reader,

Am a PC user all my life, but month ago I though of switching to mac. But her comes the problem I have a youtube channel and make a lot of video editing, plus I'm going to collage this fall, to study computer engineer.

I asked a lot of people should I go for iMac or Mac pro, (money is not a problem) some said that I most go with Mac pro because its better, will I don't want to buy some thing that expensive if I can buy some thing cheaper with that wont effect my video editing and my work.

iMac has a built in monitor, that way I can buy apple cinema display and I have two monitors than buying two for the Mac pro.

Its really a big problem, that I can find the right side because I never worked or had a mac, or my family had a mac. so what to do ? *does iMac has a Bluetooth*

The 12 core Mac Pro would be the fastest for video work but it starts at $4,999  vs a loaded 27" iMac for $3,649 with 3.4Ghz Core i7 Quad Core, 16GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM, 2TB SATA & 256GB SSD, AMD 6970M w/2GB GDDR5 that might be fast enough for your video work. Yes is has Bluetooth 2.1.

    Hi Fantastic

While the current crop of iMacs should easily handle your video editing, the Pro offers more configuration options and can easily be upgraded in ways that are not possible (or at least very difficult) on an iMac. It gets down to whether you're inclined to tinker with the inards and/or need the additional horsepower of a Pro.

I'd do a maxed out iMac 27, but that's just me.

If you do not need the portability of a high-end Macbook Pro, then the top-of-the-like 27” iMac with i7 processor would certainly do the work you need related to creating/editing video for Youtube if you went with jobiba’s suggested configuration.  You could even run three display if you wanted, the iMac’s display and two displays off each Thunderbolt port.  The MacPro is more expandable but you are unlikely to need that expansion.

I'm not sure if the exact same options are available in all markets but it seems likely. Distribution in UAE is different than it is here. There's no online Apple store. Your local mac-centric dealer appears to be iStore.

    Dear virtualpiano,

that's right its iStore, but just a month ago an official apple store lunched, you can see it in my channel I took a vide. however I will see what I can do.

    Dear jogibe,

    Thanks man

Hi guys, you should probably be looking at iStyle rather than iStore. They're part of ABM but there's only one iStore and multiple iStyle stores. Also look for help and advice on http://www.emiratesmac.com (@emiratesmac) and perhaps check in with the guys at http://www.macworldme.net (@macworldme) as well. Virgin, Protech and others also sell Macs here in UAE.

There is no official Apple store here, that was wrongly reported. All it was, was a store within store in the Virgin Megastore in Mall of the Emirates.

I think it's worth pointing out that the custom build options are only available through the on-line store. Even Apple Store high street outlets only sell the off-the shelf spec Macs.

Not sure if your local supplier can get round that, but be aware.
