Need help in choosing camcorder

I need some help from Imovie users in choosing a camcorder. I have a Canon camcorder but I am not happy with how Imovie handles the footage. Also the camcorders battery pack is broken.

I think I want a Sony, Panasonic or JVC camcorder. Before I buy one, I need some conformations from users who are using the camera and can confirm that Imovie 11 can handle it "hassle free". I know I can look it up on the Apple web page for supported cameras, but my current camera is on the supported list (the Canon camera), but it tags the interlaced footage as progressive, that´s why I need feedback from people who are actually using the camcorders and Imovie 11 without problems.
