making subscriptions and responses in FCSrv

I am having no luck performing what appears to be a very simple automation.

I have created a subscription that looks for a change in a custom metadata field I have created called "UBCSOJ Library Status" - when it is set to "Public" this should activate the response, copy the asset to the Library device, and create a new asset.

I've set up this subscription and response, and absolutely nothing happens. Here are some screen grabs:

I have also tried setting up other simple automations, such as an archive response where changing the status of an asset to completed moves the asset to the Archive device. Same thing, no action whatsoever. I must be doing (or not doing) something really obvious.

Hope someone can help!

Nothing! Well, it's reporting the fact that metadata has been updated for the asset in question, but no reference to a subscription being recognised or a response kicking in, or a copy being made.

I'm feeling pretty certain that somehow, in (perhaps clumsily) configuring custom metadata fields, groups and sets, I have managed to create some sort of conflict whereby the subscriptions and responses are not recognising these changes in status. I would really like to "reset" FCSrv if at all possible... is it possible?
