blue tooth mouse doesn't work

A logitech m305 blue tooth mouse does not work on 15" Macbook Pro - works on the 12" however. Any suggestions for trouble shooting?

MacBook Pro, iOS 4.3.2

Thanks again tjk. I found another bluetooth mouse in the house, and it worked on the 15" mbp. So maybe the driver for the Logitech m305 didn't get loaded? But I thought at one time the 305 was working on the 15". I'm confused, but anyway something works now. But anyway that is interesting what you said about the 305 being a rf mouse - I'll look into that.

Michael, have you looked at the USB ports on the 12" for the USB nano receiver I explained? No driver in the world is going to make the mouse work if it needs that receiver. You can clearly see the nano receiver for the radio frequency mouse in this listing at Amazon:

Wherever you have that plugged in is the computer the mouse will work with.

Right, the receiver was plugged into the USB port of the computer that I was trying to use the mouse with. And it worked on the 12" mbp and a mac desktop, but not the 15" mbp. So, I am not sure about anything. BTW, thanks for the Amazon picture showing the rf receiver. I will try to download a driver for the M305 onto the 15" some day.

Ok, it sounds like you have a handle on the situation. It's still strange that the mouse won't work at all on the 15" with the correct receiver installed. Usually the basic click and tracking functions will work even without special drivers. But, as you said, you do want to install the proper software for that mouse. Also make sure you try the reset button/process on the mouse. Once in awhile one of mine likes to be a bit finicky after I move from Mac to Mac, and I have to reset it (it "pairs" or establishes the connection between the mouse and receiver).

tjk, have you heard of any other problems with the Logitech M305 and Mac laptops? I have a brand new late-2011 MBA 13", and it's behaving erratically with the M305. With the USB transceiver plugged in, the mouse will work for 1 to 3 seconds and then stop completely. If I power cycle the mouse, it will start working again and then stop. It's almost as if the MBA is powering down the USB port... any ideas?

Hi r,

Try something else in the USB port/s to make sure that's not the issue. Then, I would try the mouse and transceiver with another computer to make sure it doesn't have issues.

Hi,

The original post is a while back, but I have a similar problem and thought better to add to this post then starting a new one.

I have a Logitech Wireless Mouse M305 (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/support/wireless-mouse-m305?crid=398). I am connecting it with the receiver to my MacBook Air 13 inch Mid 2011 (OSX10.9.4) and the mouse is not working. We have a Mid 2012 MacBook Air in the household and there it works nicely. Plug and play.

Any expert tips on why the mouse works on one machine and not on the other?

Thanks,

Ferdinand
