Q: SuperDrive stopped reading DVDs.

Well actually it stopped mounting and reading self burned DVDs, it recognizes and plays commerical DVDs fine.

Is there a reason for this? The disks I been trying to load are all very well taken care of. No scratches, nicks or blemishes.

They play fine on my iMac at work and the boyfriend's gaming mahine running Windows 7.

Any ideas? Thanks!

If the machine's PRAM battery hasn't been replaced in 4 years or more, that can start misbehavior of the optical drive.

If the discs were kept in anything but a jewelbox, or were sticky labelled or hand written on the label side, that can cause some optical drives to not be able to consistantly read them.

If the discs were burnt at faster than 2x, older machines may have difficulty reading them.
