WG111v2...again

Hi folks

I already checked Google and the discussion boards here. Actually i try to get online with a Netgear WG111v2 on a MacBook early 09 with SL 10.6.7.

Someone posted the solution in an archived thread:

"Install the drivers 10.4 for the WG111v3 and it works"

I think I make always a mistake. During installation it says that after the reboot I have to add the USB dongle under Network. The problem is that I can't find any option regarding the the w-lan dongle. I have only AirPort, FireWire, Ethernet, Bluetooth-DUN, VPN, PPPoE, 6 to 4

Where do I make the mistake or what is wrong? Is there another alternative Realtek driver? I can't find any on the respective homepage if i search for RTL 8717.

THX in advance

Max

I am using 10.5 driver, but I am not sure about 10.4. It works on my SL before and Lion now.

download this driver from realtek.com. or google 'realtek OSX driver' to realtek web site

http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=1&PFid=1&Level =6&Conn=5&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true

choose RTL8187B , MAC OSX 10.5 Install Package(UI ver. 1.5.7)

install driver for 10.5

Installer will install Wlan Client Utility in Application and RTL8187Bl.kext in /S/L/E

move RTL8187Bl.kext to IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/Plugins

open diskutil to repair the permission.

reboot system ( if KP, just reboot again)

run Wlan Client Utility to configure the network. I use WEP. I may set to use wpa before but I do not remember it.

make sure under System Preferences/Network is active. if still now work, set it to inactive and active again.

I just double check my Netgear WG111v2 Adapter. It show RTL8187L. if it is the case, please download RTL8187L driver. My driver is RTL8187Bl.kext. Maybe it works on both.

The USB adapter I am currently use is Trendnet TEW-424UB H/W:3.1R. This what it shows on profile
