today morning also i use skype and after 2 hours i cant open skype now, is i try to open always it open a window , says " skype quit unexpectedly." and under that it says " click reopen to open the application again. click report to see more detailed information and send a report to apple. "
that is why i reopen it but again this window comes and i cannot open skype in my mac book can you please help me??

exactly the same problem here... this morning it was still working, now I can't open anymore. I uninstalled and downloaded a new skype.app but it didn't help.
There have been reports that Skype has gone titsup again.
You may have to wait for them to figure out why and fix it at their end of things.

The ~ sign means your home folder. You can find your home folder by opening Finder and selecting Go> Home from the menu bar or pressing Command (Apple), Shift and H keys at the same time.

I found a solution on the skype support forum. Trash the 5.x.x version of Skype and install the 2.8 version. You can find it by scrolling down to the bottom of the skype for mac download page. It worked for me.
