phone numbers with area codes in ()?

Hi

I would like to use phone numbers like this + 41 (0)44 421 17 17 - but dialing with the iphone for example from outlook is not possible.

Do I really have to change all numbers to + 41 44 421 17 17? Or is there an other solution? Thank you very much!

When you manually dial on a land line or with other cell phones, does it matter if you omit the "(0)"? Is it in EVERY number? What happens if you manually dial the iPhone with the (0)?

I don't know the official "standard" dialing format where you are, but what was programed into the iOS doesn't appear to require those characters, and the phone can't recognize numbers with them as telephone numbers.

In the US, land line carriers usually require a "1" added to the beginning of a long distance call to go through. Most cell carriers don't need the 1, but the call goes through with or without it.

Dear modular747

Thank you! I have the correct settings (Switzerland). With my question above ".... from outlook" I mean, that the sender information in all our E-mails in our office have the following numbers (for exemaple) +41 (0)44 421 17 17. With this - I get the answer, the number is not correct if I just click on the number.

If I just write +41 44 421 17 17 - we can click directly on the number in the mail and call the person and it works!

Therefore I would like to know, if it is possible to keep the numbers as mentioned above or if we have to delete all the clumps and the zeros (0). Thanks a lot for your help.

There is no way to include the zero. Without the zero it is a valid number for dialing. It is not valid with the zero.

The display of the number is just a convention which I never understood. Nowhere do you dial the number with the zero inserted after dialing 41. You replace the +41 with the zero. Anyone who sees the number with +41 would know that you replace it with the zero if dialing from a phone in Switzerland.

Thank you Matthew!

Since a few yeras we need the dial the 0 within Switzerland - that was different before!

Therefore lots of companies or privat persons use the zero in clumps. If you call from outside Switzerland, the 0 may not be dialed.

But I will change the sender informations for our company - I think that will be the easiest way.
Thanks again for your answer and have a great day.
Best regards, Berta
