Apple support at DoA experiance - bad start

Hi,

had a bad start with Apple.

I bought an Apple Iphone 4 (personal) for use as a business phone a few days ago. I did (and still) use Blackberry before.

Integration in a Enterprise company takes a while, BB decommisioning, change of SIM to microSIM.

After activation of microSIM I received the first call - and couldn't hear anything!

-> Here the problem starts.

iPhone Earspeaker seems to be defekt. DoA.

Ok. Checked with some other iPhone users - defect. Sor far ok. Problems happens.

-> Called my Dealer which is ServiceProviders Business partner. They told me they can't replace the device and I have to call Apple Service first.

-> Called Apple Service: They told me to restore the phone with iTunes (this is a brand new device!) first. Which costs a lot of time and didn't solve the problem.

Apple service told me I have to send in my brand new iPhone 4 for repair and this can last 14 days.

Alternatively I can contact my dealer or pay for an Express repair or a service contract.

Apple Dealer told me they can't replace the brand new iPhone4 as this is not allowed or supported from Apple. They can just send to repair.

As we have no Apple Store in Austria this is not an alternative way.

I recalled Apple support but all suggested workarounds from my side (allow to replace or send a replacement device to the Dealer) are denied with: This isn't a Apple supported process. Pay for an express exchange or a Apple Care Contract.

-> I payed for an Apple iPhone4 two days ago

-> As the device is DOA (Dead on Arrival) I do not want to pay extra to get a working product.

My status so far:

I brought my iPhone back to dealer and got an ANDROID Phone as a timely replacement!

This is a special service from the Dealer for Business customers and it seems this wasn't the first time they did this.

-> I had to do a time consuming change back from microSIM to normal SIM as iPhone4 is the only device microSIM (this is no fun in a Enterprise company)

-> I had to learn and reprovision the Android Phone into corporate network.

Waiting to get my brand new iPhone back from repair.

I had good feelings when I decided to buy my first Apple product.

But Apple support changed my mind in only two days.

Support in problems is a chance - Apple missed it in my case

I was considering to buy and use more Apple products in future.

Now I have time to test and consider an alternative product.

iPhone 4, iOS 4.3.2

As the others have said, posting here generally is not a reliable method for offering feedback and comments to Apple. Apple has web pages specifically for sending them comments:

You can also call Apple technical support and ask to speak with someone in Customer Relations. I don't know if they would be able to help expedite the repair, but you could try.

Regards.
