Hi,
Some of my Application icons have gone to generic icons that are the icon with the "A" in the icon.
How do I restore them back to their original icon?
24" iMac v9,1, Mac OS X (10.6.7), Logitech S530 Keyboard/Mouse : Verizon DSL
Have you rebooted? Sometimes the most simple things will help "hinky" issues like that. Or shut if off for a few minutes - longer than a plain restart - and see if that works.
Tried everything, Reboot, Repair permissions.... nothing has worked so far.
I moved the App from the Applications folder to the Utilities folder it seemed to change the icon.

If you can get the icons to change by moving them back and forth from one folder to another, I think I would stick with that approach.
Download the free OnyX, run everything to clean you out
You can cancel reboot inbetween cleans, as long as you reboot in the end.
