Power calibration area error. (0x73, 0x03.)

Hi,

I just bought new disks and of the five I have tried to burn I continue to get " Power calibration area error. (0x73, 0x03.)" I have in the past burned many sucesful DVD from DVD Studio Pro. I have cleaned my drive with a Radio Shake DVD cleaning disk and rebooted the machine.

Any One Figure This Out?

This is an issue, in my experience, related to media. Basically, your burner doesn't like whatever brand of discs you've just brought and it'll give that very cryptic error.

For what it's worth, I encountered this issue - repeatedly - with so-called 'Certified for Pioneer' DVD-Rs from ProDisc (My G4 Tower has a Pioneer SuperDrive). They turned out to be utter garbage.

I now stick to Verbatim discs - haven't burned a coaster in the 14 months since I've stuck with them exclusively.

Have you experimented with a different brand of media?

I had the exact same problem and was about to go insane until I bought some DVD-R 1x-8x, the key being that my burner is a 1x burner in need of 1x DVD-R's. It worked like a charm.
