I have problems downloading IOS 4.3.3 via Itunes is there a simple alternative, i would like to download via explorer and then install directly to the phone
iTunes is the only way to download and install iOS updates officially. You could try googling for other methods, you might find something, but you might also brick your device.
What specific issues are you having? Are you getting an error message? Have you tried searching for the issue you are having?
If you are using a Windows based computer, disable a/v software and turn off the Firewall then update.
Turn Windows Firewall on or off
As "diesel" mentions.. you can only use iTunes to sync, update, or restore your iPhone.
