Is 8GB of PC3-10600 memory in MacBook Aluminum (5,1) really running at 1333MHz?

Hello. I recently upgraded my Late 2008 MacBook Aluminum (5,1) 2.4GHz w/MB51.007D.B03 firmware to 8GB of RAM using two Hynix 4GB PC3-10600 1333MHz sodimms (HMT351S6AFR8C-H9). The MacBook works perfectly and displays 1333MHz on all the information screens. Is it possible that it's running at 1333MHz or it running at 1066MHz and just being incorrectly reported by OSX? I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.7. Geekbench reports 1333MHz and the Geekbench score is higher than the average MacBook 5,1 2.4GHz - 3388 vs. 3270 average. However, Geekbench does show the bus speed as 1.06GHz or 1066MHz, which is correct. My MacBook still has the original Apple 250GB 5400 rpm hard drive installed. See screenshots below.

I just realized that my MacBook Pro i5 2.4GHz (mid 2010) has 8GB of PC3-8500 memory installed. So I swapped the memory. Interestingly enough, the MBP does not show that 1333MHz memory is installed, neither does Geekbench. On the MBP the scores on Geekbench do not change when the memory is "upgraded" either.

The result in the MacBook 5,1? No decrease in performance. The PC3-8500 memory is correctly reported as 1067MHz, but the Geekbench score stays the same, see screenshot below. So, while PC3-10600 DDR3 1333MHz memory works and is correctly identified by MacBook 5,1's, there doesn't seem to be any performance advantage.

Grade H9 are 1333MHz. likewise, G7 are the same with 1066MHz.

hence OSX has correctly identified your RAM.

i guess the NVidia and the rest of the system is bottleneck at 1066MHz as advertised for Macbook5,1.

putting the H9 Rams in have caused no problem with your MB? have u ran several Memtest ont hem? i supposed they are official Apple parts should just click.

i actually found Hynix rams cheaper to buy compared to Kingston. will put them on order and boost my MB51 with 8Gb. fingers x
